The Ellsworth Municipal Hospital Foundation
2009 Annual Report
Thank you for considering a gift to the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital Foundation. Your gift will help support the healthcare needs of everyday Iowans, who have been cared for by the dedicated physicians and staff of Ellsworth Municipal Hospital (EMH) for over a century.
EMH the fourth community hospital built in Iowa, was established in 1902. The philanthropic support of E. S. Ellsworth and other Iowa Falls citizens made this possible. Since the founding of EMH, philanthropy has been a major source of support for the hospital.
Today, EMH is the only hospital in the Hardin County area. Without tax support, the trustees and staff of the EMH Foundation (established in 2001) continue the Ellsworth tradition through its mission to solicit and administer gifts to support EMH.
Donor funds have enabled the Foundation to fund projects and programs that would otherwise not be available in the community. Funded projects include remodel of the Radiology Department, and purchase of ultrasound, radiographic and flouro systems; new equipment in the Emergency and Surgery Departments, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Departments; technology and equipment upgrades in the Laboratory and remodel of the patient rooms and nurses' station on the Medical Surgical floor, to name a few.
