What’s the difference between a Level 1 Emergency Room Visit and emergency care that requires more advanced services? We’ve put together this reference to help you determine the type of care you may need when your regular health care provider is unavailable.
Level 1 ER Visit
May not be life threatening but needs medical attention. Depending on the services you need, the following may qualify for Level 1 ER charges:
Your son hurt his hand playing football, and the swelling just won’t go down. It’s not serious, but you’d like someone to take a look at it. Your doctor’s office closed over an hour ago…
Your sore throat is lingering. You can’t take time off work right now. If you could just get it checked out on your way home from work…
Your infant won’t sleep, she has a fever and she won’t stop pulling at her ear. She’s had earaches before, but you’ll feel a lot better if a doctor examines her. It is midnight…
You wake up feeling sick and you are leaving for vacation that afternoon. Your regular health care provider does not have any available appointments until the following day…
You never know what you’re going to find in your flowerbed—including the rusty old nail that scrapes you. You haven’t had a tetanus shot lately. Should you wait through the weekend…
Not every situation is appropriate for Level 1 Care.
During regular clinic hours, please contact your primary care provider before seeking a Level 1 Emergency Room Visit.
A Level 1 ER Visit costs less, however please be aware that depending on your insurance coverage, charges may be applied to your deductible, rather than your co-pay as in a typical clinic visit. We recommend that you check with your insurance carrier so that you are aware of how these services may affect your bill.
Our experienced team of healthcare providers in the ER will determine the complexity of your condition and if you require higher-intensity care. Our goal is to provide the highest quality care in the most efficient way possible.
In addition, our entire team is committed to providing you with excellent customer service during your visit. If at any time during your stay you feel you could not score us a “5” (very good) for your care, please let us know immediately so that we can address your concerns promptly.
Our staff will make every effort to inform you and keep you updated about the next step in your care or that of your loved one. Feel free to ask questions and let us know how we can make your visit more comfortable.
As always, if you have symptoms of a heart attack, stroke or any medical emergency, don’t wait. Seek emergency care right away.
