Ellsworth Municipal Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in the beautiful Scenic City of Iowa Falls. As the only hospital in Hardin County, we have the distinct privilege of caring for our friends and neighbors through life's celebrations, uncertainties or life changing events. We don't take that responsibility lightly which is why our mission of "Caring for People in Special Ways" is the focus for each employee at EMH and its clinics. Our commitment, first and foremost, is to the patients and families we serve each day at EMH.
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital owns and operates a number of area clinics. This relationship provides better reimbursements through insurance companies for these providers so that they can also offer up-to-date equipment and procedures. We are proud to include the following clinics as Departments of Ellsworth Municipal Hospital: Ackley Medical Center (Ackley); Ellsworth Family Medicine (Iowa Falls); EMH Surgery (Iowa Falls); Freedom House (Iowa Falls); and the Iowa Falls Clinic.
As a city-owned hospital, EMH is governed by a board of five elected Trustees: Steve Howard, Chair; Diana Ruhl, Secretary; Mike Stensland; Frances Fritz; and Amanda Wood. Ellsworth Municipal Hospital has firmly established itself as a comprehensive community hospital committed to high quality, individualized care. Our many services and up-to-date technology aim to meet the health care needs of our community and surrounding areas. Hometown services are important to rural Iowans and we are pleased to bring you quality health care.
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital is managed under a contract with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, which provides administrative and other support services. In the current health environment, affiliations are critical for rural hospitals to stay abreast of new developments and technologies while gaining the additional advantages of collective purchasing agreements and sharing resources to benefit the patients we serve. As a part of the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Network, we have access to Telemedicine and Teleradiology services which extend our ability to provide medical care locally and help our patients avoid commuting for a great portion of their health care needs. New services and equipment are added as resources permit so that Ellsworth Municipal Hospital can continue to fulfill its mission to the community.
In September 2008, EMH along with seven other hospitals in our network implemented an Electronic Health Record. This integrated system is the first of its kind in the U.S. rural health care setting. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) has puts the latest evidence-based care information at clinicians' fingertips when they need it: at the time care is delivered. It is a highly efficient method of providing healthcare and enhances patient safety through a series of safeguards.
We have adopted an environment of Service Excellence here at EMH. Our Standards of Service Excellence guide us through contact with patients, families, physicians, and our co-workers. We appreciate any feedback you can give us regarding your experiences with staff, physicians, department directors, and management at EMH by contacting Administration at 641-648-7012.
