EMH CELEBRATES DOCTOR’S DAY “NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES”
Iowa Falls, IA – March 30th is National Doctor’s Day, a day set aside to recognize physicians for the countless hours dedicated to caring for our personal healthcare needs and those of our family and friends. The 2012 National Doctor’s Day theme is “Not All Heroes Wear Capes”. At Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, March 30th, 2012, honors the efforts of the entire EMH Medical Staff, which consists of thirteen physicians and three nurse practitioners, as well as the team of specialty physicians who bring their services to EMH.
Cherelle Montanye, EMH Chief Executive Officer, knows firsthand how much these people give to our community, and how important it is to thank them on Doctor’s Day and throughout the year for the role they plan in providing quality medical care.
“The providers at EMH are not only dedicated to our health, they are also friends and neighbors, husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, and volunteers in the community. They work to make Hardin County and the surrounding area a wonderful place to live.”
“I hear every day how much our staff appreciates the providers we have at EMH. They make a difference in the lives of patients and our community,” Montanye says, “It only makes sense that a day be set aside to recognize the work and sacrifices our physicians and their families make and we encourage the people of Hardin County to join us in honoring this special group of people.”
This year, the entire community is encouraged to share their appreciation for our Medical Staff. Special Note Cards featuring a red carnation (the symbolic flower of Doctor’s Day) are available at the greeter/front registration in the main hospital lobby. EMH staff and the public are encouraged to write notes of appreciation to EMH providers. The notes can be returned to the front desk to be shared with the EMH Medical Staff on March 30th.
Doctor’s Day was first commemorated on March 30th, 1933. The day was celebrated on the anniversary of the first administration of anesthesia by Dr. Crawford W. Long in Barrow County, Georgia in 1842. On March 30, 1958, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution commemorating Doctor’s Day, and on October 30, 1990 President George Bush signed a resolution designating March 30th as “National Doctor’s Day.”
