The Ellsworth Municipal Hospital Foundation will be holding its Fall Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 6, in the Dale Howard Family Activity Center on the Ellsworth Community College campus in Iowa Falls. To celebrate the fifth anniversary of this seasonal event, the event this year boasts a celebrity chef, the traditional dessert auction, and live music by The Soul Searchers.
The mission of the EMH Foundation is to foster charitable partnerships that enhance healthcare for those we have the privilege to serve. The EMHF Fall Fundraiser has historically supported hospital services through various equipment purchases and department upgrades, which enhance and improve the services they provide. The proceeds from this year’s event are designated for the purchase of a new portable X-ray machine.
The 2012 event promises to be much more than a fundraiser. Foundation Director, Chad Hammar, adds, “This is also an evening to bring our community partners together to honor their dedication to keeping healthcare local for the future and celebrate the history of support we share.”
Celebrity Chef, Michelle Gayer, will be making dessert for the evening’s guests. Gayer grew up in a rural Iowa community and knows well the role delicious food plays in community celebrations. Her career has taken her around the globe and to an audience of millions on Food Network. Now, as an owner of her own bakery, The Salty Tart in Minneapolis, she seeks new and creative ways to bring her fare to new palates. Beyond her shop in the Midtown Global market, her sweet-to-savory selections can also be found at the Mill City Farmers Market and each year at the Minnesota State Fair.
The Soul Searchers, from Des Moines, Iowa, play more than 100 dates a year throughout Iowa and neighboring towns like Omaha and Minneapolis, and have promised to bring a festive selection of “oldies and goodies” to the EMHF event. The band has won the Iowa Blues Challenge, has appeared at the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival and has been featured on Iowa Public Television's "Living In Iowa" program.
