GROUNDBREAKING EVENTS PLANNED FOR NEW HOSPITAL
Iowa Falls, IA – Ellsworth Municipal Hospital is planning groundbreaking festivities to commemorate the June start of construction for a new hospital facility south of Iowa Falls in Hardin County.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the site of the new building on Tuesday, June 5th, at 1:00 p.m. To celebrate this milestone, EMH invites the greater Hardin County community to join them at a groundbreaking celebration in Estes Park downtown Iowa Falls on Wednesday, June 6th. The festivities will include a free meal, the entertainment of the season’s first lawn chair night, and a presentation of groundbreaking highlights at intermission. The Ellsworth College Auditorium serves as a back-up location in the event of rain.
Iowa Falls Chamber/Main Street along with sponsors for the evening, Green Belt Bank & Trust and Scenic Living Communities present the “Doo Wops”, a men’s a cappella singing group as the first performance in the summer “Music in the Park” series.
“We feel the excitement of this occasion already,” says EMH CEO Cherelle Montanye. “The partnership of this celebration is one more example of how we have all come together to keep healthcare in Hardin County.”
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital (EMH) formed a community partnership in 2011 to finance the construction of the $30 Million new facility. $20 Million in General Obligation (G.O.) bonds through Hardin County were secured by winning a 60.05% super majority in a public vote held in November of 2011. The City of Iowa Falls committed to a $5 Million bond and loan package as well as a $40,000 gift to the capital campaign for the project. The capital campaign set a goal at $5 Million for private support of the project. To date, the campaign has raised over $6.8 Million including a $1.5 Million gift from the Jeff and Deb Hansen family of Des Moines, whose name will be honored on the new campus.
Jeff and Deb grew up in Hardin County and still have strong business ties to the community. The Hansens have built several businesses from the ground up, all of which are proud to call Iowa Falls home. New Modern Concepts, and its predecessor Modern Hog Concepts have provided and continue to provide livestock buildings and equipment to producers throughout the Midwest.
The future home of EMH, Iowa Falls Clinic and Ellsworth Family Medicine is a single story, 75,000 square foot building. Planning of the facility has included input from community representatives, EMH Board of Trustees, Physicians and EMH management and employees. Mock builds and patient care scenarios were part of the process towards building a facility that will offer the best possible patient care and efficiency.
