Herpes zoster diseminado
El herpes zoster normalmente se presenta en un área limitada después de un dermatoma (ver la imagen "dermatoma"). En individuos con un sistema inmunológico deficiente, el herpes zoster puede dispersarse (herpes diseminado), provocando enfermedades serias. Lo causa el mismo virus de la varicela.
