Herpes zoster (culebrilla) en el tórax
Esta es una imagen del herpes zoster (culebrilla) en el tórax. La enfermedad es causada por el mismo virus de la varicela. Cuando el zoster brota, sigue el trayecto de los nervios de la piel. Este patrón de distribución que se observa aquí sigue el trayecto de un dermatoma (ver imagen de "dermatomas"). En esta fotografía se observa claramente la distribución lineal del nervio en la piel.
