Overview
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital is a 35-bed critical access hospital that has a reputation as an excellent primary care facility. Ellsworth Municipal Hospital is managed under a contract with Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, which provides administrative and other support services. In the current health environment, affiliations will be critical for rural hospitals to stay abreast of new developments and technologies while gaining the additional advantages of collective purchasing agreements and sharing resources to benefit the patients we serve.
With over a century of service to the people of Hardin County, we continue to strive to provide quality health care close to home. As a part of the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa Network, we have access to Telemedicine and Teleradiology services which extend our ability to provide medical care locally and help our patients avoid commuting for the majority of their health care needs. New services and equipment are added as resources permit so that Ellsworth Municipal Hospital can continue to fulfill its mission to the community.
In September 2008, EMH along with seven other hospitals in our network implemented an Electronic Health Record. This integrated system is the first of its kind in the U.S. rural health care setting, with less than three percent of hospitals nationwide having such a system available. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) has puts the latest evidence-based care information at clinicians' fingertips when they need it: at the time care is delivered. It is a highly efficient method of providing healthcare and enhances patient safety through a series of safeguards.
Ellsworth Municipal Hospital owns and operates a number of area clinics. This relationship provides better reimbursements through insurance companies for these providers so that they can also offer up-to-date equipment and procedures. We are proud to include the following clinics as Departments of Ellsworth Municipal Hospital: Ackley Medical Center (Ackley); Ellsworth Family Medicine (Iowa Falls); EMH Surgery (Iowa Falls); Freedom House (Iowa Falls); and the Iowa Falls Clinic.
Our commitment, first and foremost, is to the patients and families we serve each day at EMH. We know that it is a privilege to be a part of your life through celebrations, uncertainty or life changing events. We don't take that responsibility lightly which is why our mission of "Caring for People in Special Ways" is known by each employee at EMH and its clinics. |
